Blame China?

advertisement

Why do we blame China and the Far East for the economic problems we are having in the world today. We know the price of oil is bid up in a kind of auction called the NYMEX. This can be stopped by placing limits on how high the price can go. Is there a real shortage? Not according to the Saudi Arabians who are the experts in the field. The price is driven by a coalition of bidders who have billions of dollars available whether by credit, or by cash and can bid at will keeping this price high. If there was a real shortage why don't we see the government rationing like we did a couple of decades ago. No, there is no shortage, its as bogus as the three dollar bill. China is only one of the excuses. The other real culpret is Bush's trumped up war in Iraq, one that has wasted trillions, money that could have gone to education and health care, as well as assisted New Orleans, and fixed up our dilapidated infrastructure of bridges, dikes, lroads, prisons, lakes, forests, etc.

The Chinese business world has grown on the backs of USA civilians buying their lead based products, which we don't have to do, but the advertising messages we are bombarded with daily entice us to spend, spend, spend. We don't have to. This is not meant to punish China, its meant to preserve what we have left. As our younger generations go out into the world, they are making and creating households with Chinese products while there is plenty of 'stuff' here to set up households already saving them money and time. Tell me why my kids need to buy pots and pans from China when I have a kitchen full I will never use. Also, why do we need extra storage places, because our garages are so full of junk we cannot park our gas guzzling cars and suvs in them. This junk packed inside our garages represents money spend on things we didn't need in the first place but was welcomed on someone's balance sheet, in China, or elsewere.

American economists have been saying, ' We buy to much, yet if we stop buying, we damage the world economy.' BOLLOCKS! Americans are gluttons, and we desire everything under the sun with a philosophy that dictates the 'live for today' mantra. This mantra is creating the problem we have today, parents cannot say 'NO' to their children nor themselves and this inability to exert personal discipline is the real danger, not the Chinese. They are just satisfying our need for things edible, ceramic, plastic, technological, and paper. Things that could just as easily been made here but not with the three hundred percent mark up. If made in the USA, the mark up would only be two hundred, not enough for today's greedy entrepreneurs and business owners.
