As I sit here transcribing notes from a recent seminar in education, I am listening to the television in the background. The wife is flipping the channels and nearly every one of them is showing violence. This violence is presented in the wide range of television detective shows, and movies featuring murder, assassinations, drug induced killings, violent attacks on women, and domestic disturbances.
What is our republican owned media presenting to us, the good side of American life, the comedy we grew up with, the moral and ethcial, transparency in government, a true accounting of heroes in our society, practicing their responsibilities as the fourth estate? No, they are in my opinion conditioning us for the coming violence of US citizens who cannot get work, the new class of unemployable-becoming-violent because the wealthy corporate is not hiring in-spite of lower taxes, and increased write-offs. The new angry citizens who see vast disparities in wealth, who are forced to pay more in phony price increases of stable goods are going to reach a boiling point as we have witnessed before mostly in the Black communities in the late 50's and 60's.
I remember Watts, and other riots around the county, I also remember the reaction of desperate people when gas prices were pushed high as hell, there were bombings of gas stations and threats to national security. The amount of violence increased because of the state of our economy. Domestic violence increased in one-on-one robbery, murder, and suicide skyrocketed. This scenario is about to reoccur with the destruction of our economy, the increase of unemployed workers, and the reductions of police and firefighters by republican politicians all across this country. And, the wealthy corporate knows this, the learn from the lessons of the past while the average American is spending so much time making ends meet this is not even a thought.
We are in trouble today because of the republican party. They have supported war against Iraq which has cost us the lives of over 3,000 American soldiers and civil workers there, in a completely unnecessary war. They have dumped an economy which they took over from the democrats that had a budget surplus, and have run it in the ground blaming the opposition party.
We are being conditioned to this coming violence by our media. We are bombarded by this night after night, to read about it in the papers, and to see it on the national news is making us numb to the coming reality of increased violence in our streets. This is the true gift of the wealthy corporate to all of the other economic classes in the USA. It is social engineering, it is having an understanding of markets, and what market conditions have on a society.
