I was sitting here thinking about some of the comments on various posts on the Vine, and started to consider the following news report (below). This report is about Assad seeking revenge for the deaths of his military advisers and leaders. Also, in revenge, his supporters have been wandering around the streets of Damascus knifing and shooting innocent civilians because they do not share the same Islamic identity, or were rebels came from This stuck me as something with biblical proportions coming out of all of this.
Am I an orthodox religious person, obviously no, I am not. However, I am proud of my heritage, and my religion, and pray quite a bit, as I get older. Is there a God, yes, I believe that we are created by a higher power. We have certain likenesses, but with severe limitations, we are not little gods, yet we may act like demigods perhaps but who are we kidding.
I will not delete comments unless they are rude and obnoxious, let us respect people's beliefs and religious banter. If you have a point you want to make, sure make it. But if you want to put down another person for his religious or non-religious beliefs I will delete it. This is an exchange of ideas taken off of current news and a backdrop of biblical writings.
Consider this from the bible. The conversation however is based on comparison with contemporary news. What are YOUR thoughts?
An oracle concerning Damascus.
Damascus will cease to be a city,
and will become a heap of ruins.
Her towns will be deserted for ever;*
they will be places for flocks,
which will lie down, and no one will make them afraid.
The fortress will disappear from Ephraim,
and the kingdom from Damascus;
and the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the children of Israel
